GrabBall™ SkyHook™ Activity Guide

#1-02072

Introduction

Congratulations on your Sportime purchase. Below is a fun game suggestion for use with the GrabBall SkyHook. As you will see, its easy to come up with your own games be creative and have fun!

Asteroid Grabber

  • The official team game consists of 5 players on a team. The non-official game can be made up of more players, but to make sure everyone is involved, it is recommended that there are no more than 8 players on a side.
  • Asteroid Grabber can be played on a half court with the SkyHook placed on the free-throw line or full court with one SkyHook in the center jump circle. It can also be played full court with SkyHook placed on each end of the court on the free-throw line, inside the circle.
  • Play begins with a designated in-bounds pass by one team member to another player.
  • It is played like basketball, except passes by hand or if the ball is on the surface, by feet.
  • Players may not run with the ball, but may take 2 steps after catching it. If more, it is called travelling. Players may pass to teammates, or drop the ball and move it with their feet.
  • Shots must be taken from outside the circle surrounding the Asteroid Grabber goal (SkyHook).
  • If a shot is hooked onto the Grabber (SkyHook), it counts as 2 points for the team scoring. The opposition then takes the ball out of bounds at the nearest side or end line and continues play again with a pass in.
  • Defense guards, like in basketball, stay between their opponent and the goal.
  • The defense may intercept a pass, with a foot tackle, or pick up a loose ball.
  • A player may not touch a player with the ball. This calls for a penalty a free shot at the goal from the side or end lines. Fouls are called for bumping, hacking, pushing or inappropriate sportsmanship.
  • If the ball is shot at the goal and becomes lodged within the circle, the opposite side takes the ball out of bounds on the nearest sideline or end line for a pass in.

Variations

  • This game can be played by time, 2 halves of a set time or by up to a certain number of points.
  • Option Game: Have 4 GrabBalls ready. If hooked on the goal, the GrabBall stays there and another GrabBall is put in play. The first team to hook 2 GrabBalls on their goal wins.
  • Another Option: Play the best of 3 series with the above option game.
  • Create a progresion of increased dificulty by moving the target farther away with each succcessful shot.
