Submit An Idea
At School Specialty, we pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence, education and creativity and in bringing your creativity to those customers who need it the most...our children! We currently have 100s of "Abilitations Creations" products that have been designed by our own team as well as people such as yourself. You can locate them in our catalog by the Abilitations Creations logo.
In order to view your idea we will need:
- To see an actual prototype. We can not accept descriptions without a prototype. This helps us assure that the product has been tried and tested by the expert...you! Please do not send us concepts that you have not actually tested with your prototype. If you would like to get a feeling for our interest before sending a prototype, you may send a
photo(s) first and we can let you know whether we have an interest in seeing the actual prototype. However, we will not proceed without a prototype.
- Clear contact information (phone, e-mail, address etc.) including your social security number (needed to offer you a royalty agreement) in order to contact you.
- A good description including dimensions and materials used.
Once we screen your idea, we will let you know whether it is one we can use.
If so, your idea will be further researched to see if it is feasible for us to bring to the market. If we find it marketable, we will then offer you a written royalty agreement.
Every "Abilitations Creation" idea is presented to the marketplace with an activity guide. As the creator of your idea, you will be asked to draft the guide, which we will then edit. This entire process can take anywhere from 1 year to 2 years to finalize depending on the idea.
You can download the following information:
- a sample standard royalty agreement (for you to view only at this point)
- a non-disclosure agreement (we are happy to sign and return if you'd like)
- an activity guide template (you will need to fill out should your idea be accepted)
- a submission agreement (MUST be sent along with your prototype)and
- a sample license agreement (for you to view only at this point)
Thank you again for your creativity!
